High Park Little League offers a range of divisions for kids: Instructional (6 years old), T-Ball (7-8 years old), Minors (9-10 years old), and Majors (11-12 years old). The club also fields all-star rep teams for each age group.
Little League baseball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program designed for children 9-12 years of age. Although it uses a lot of the same rules as baseball there are some differences, such as the size of the playing field: a 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance set at 46 feet.
Toronto High Park Little League is a volunteer-based House League program. A player’s playing age is determined by the Little League age eligibility requirements.
Instructional T-Ball
The Instructional program is designed to introduce young players to the sport of baseball. Children, age 6 years old, learn how to catch, throw, hit off a tee, and run the bases while playing a variety of games. The emphasis is on having fun, and the activities change frequently to keep the children active and involved.
T-Ball
The T-Ball program is designed for kids aged 7 and 8 to have the opportunity to develop hand-eye coordination and swing technique without fear of being hit by a pitched ball while the defensive team is allowed more opportunities to develop fundamental fielding skills. Youngsters will learn to play and enjoy baseball through good instruction and participation experience in T-Ball.
Minors
The High Park Minor division is a house league for players aged 9 and 10, consisting of eight teams. In the Minor division players are introduced to pitching and base stealing; players are rotated through infield and outfield positions at the discretion of the head coach. Each team plays one or two games per week, which are held before the Major game and lasts approximately 2 hours.
Majors
The Major division is a house league for players aged 11 and 12, consisting of eight teams. In the Major division, players build on their skills developed in the Minor division with the speed and complexity of play reaching a more competitive level of skill. Each team plays one or two games per week, which are held after the Minor game and lasts approximately 2 hours.
All-Star Rep program
High Park Little League All-Star rep teams provide players in T-Ball (ages 7-9) and Little League (ages 9 -12) additional opportunities to play in high-competitive baseball, competing in tournaments around Ontario and challenging for the Golden Horseshoe District 1 title, with a chance to participate in provincial and national cahmpionships. Since 2012, HPLL has fielded a girls-focused T-Ball team, the High Park Diamonds, which has had incredible success against co-ed and girls’ all-star teams alike. In 2023, a Diamonds team for girls 9-10 years old was added, and in 2024 a Diamonds team for girls 11-12 years old is making its debut.
