We kicked off the season with high hopes and even higher energy. From the very first pitch against the High Park Hawks 13U AA team, it was clear this group was special — we started the season with a 20-game win streak! Over the course of the season, we posted an impressive 21-4 record, demonstrating dominance on both sides of the ball. Every game brought something new: walk-off wins, comebacks, no-hitters, grand slams, and moments of pure magic that only baseball can deliver.

Our success started by winning the Ancaster tournament, but not without some adversity in the semi-final versus Mirabel Diamond, our new provincial rival from Quebec. Then we took the Brockville tournament — the team dominated but had to battle again in the semi-finals against our local arch rivals Oakville. In the District championships, the team battled through tough competition and had to overcome some controversial and suspect umpiring that led to unnecessary ejections. Yet High Park emerged as District 1 champions for the second time in three years. Fueled by that momentum, we advanced to Provincials in Oakville where our grit and determination were on full display. Against the best teams from across Ontario, we rose to the occasion and claimed the provincial title, capping off a thrilling tournament with a statement win in the finals versus South Ottawa.

With hearts full and eyes set on an even bigger stage, we earned our ticket to Victoria, British Columbia and the Canadian Little League Championships — a dream for any youth baseball team or player in this country. We faced elite squads from across the country and showed the nation what we were made of. Game after game, our players proved they belonged. We competed hard, with grit (“get dirty!!!”), and solid pitching. Though we fell short of the ultimate prize, our run was nothing short of extraordinary and a defining moment for this group.

But beyond the stats and trophies, this season was about more than just baseball. It was about growth, teamwork, and community. Our players supported each other through every high and low, learning valuable lessons about sportsmanship, perseverance, and what it means to play for something bigger than yourself. And none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our families. From early morning practices to long road trips, our parents were the backbone of this season. Their cheers, snacks, carpools, and constant encouragement made every win even sweeter and every setback easier to overcome. We can’t thank them enough for being our biggest fans.

Our amazing coaching staff — Jessica Smith, Rob Biggart, and Jang Lee Won — brought these young boys together and over the course of their Little League careers have helped shape them into terrific ball players. We were also blessed with the dedicated help of Jen FitzGerald and are indebted to her unwavering attention to GameChanger, as well as her outstanding organizing and communications skills. Thank you to our photographer Matthew Blackett for capturing every game, our sponsor Chris Phillips with Greening Homes, and our High Park Little League executive for their ongoing support behind the scenes.

As we close out this amazing journey, we do so with full hearts and unforgettable memories. This season was more than just a game — it was a story of unity, passion, and the joy of chasing a shared dream. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families of this team, a season we’ll never forget. For me, I know I will never forget this team. — Coach Vincent DeCaria
