It was a very successful season for this group of girls who continued to improve their game and saw the results of their hard work. The Diamonds Minors team had a lot of fun on and off the field with much laughter, exciting plays with nail-biter games coming down to a single run to determine the winner. The girls held their own against competitive teams putting up huge hits, big plays, amazing pitching and fantastic leadership and encouragement from our catchers. Did we mention they had fun too?
SPONSOR: Roncesvalles Dental Care
TOURNAMENTS:
Ontario Mega Girls Tournament: Etobicoke
Jim Lutton Baseball Hall of Fame Tournament: St Mary’s, Ontario
Scott Tokessy Memorial Tournament: Kanata, Ontario

The girls made sure to bring their A game to each event; which for the Diamonds is “heart, hustle and a ton of fun”. Each tournament held a special moment. At OMG the girls were incredibly proud of their growth as a team and individual players over the course of the tournament; in St Mary’s it was convincing the opponent’s coaching staff to do handstands between innings and the raucous fun swimming at the Quarry, at Tokessy the team was part of an inaugural division for Minor Girls and through their infectious enthusiasm had the opposing team join in their signature warm up – dancing the Cha-Cha Slide. We had one notable game in St Mary’s when the team turned a double and triple play, topped off with an inside-the-park grand slam.

The girls always kept a positive attitude and encouraged their teammates. They were amazing sportswomen, recognizing the efforts of their opponents and demonstrating respect for the umpires. The girls’ enthusiasm could be heard from across the complexes with one coach coming over to tell our team that it sounded like we were having a blast.
Huge thank you to the girls from York Baseball and Mitchell Baseball who helped round out the roster at the OMG and St Mary’s tournaments A big thank you to multitude of family and friends who came to dance, cheer and celebrate our team this season. And a huge thank you to the coaches for their time and dedication to growing the HPLL girls program.
