The High Park 7’s were on a mission from the first practice of the season. The kids were laser focused, incredibly talented and put in a lot of hard work (the improvement throughout the year was staggering). This dedication led to a clean sweep of the summer tournament circuit!

SEASON HIGHLIGHT: Without a doubt, on the 7’s last day of the rep season, it came down to the wire against the Ancaster Diamondbacks in the Dundas finals. In the bottom of the 5th, down one run, our last batter came to the plate with a man on second and third and hit a sharp ground ball to first base. Our runner from third crossed as the ball was being thrown home, causing the catcher to miss the ball. Our runner from second tore around the bases and slid safely just as the catcher touched home plate — as one of the grandfathers put it — “the most exciting game of youth baseball I have ever seen in the decades I’ve been watching.”
The group of kids and their families had such an amazing time together that after the last game, many of the kids were incredibly sad on the way home that everything was coming to an end. This is a special group of players, a group that is so dedicated to being good teammates along with a burning desire to get better every day. It will be very interesting to see where this group ends up.
