High Park Little League wishes to honour, Bob Bardyn who coached a generation of kids at HPLL for more than 25 years. He was an avid sports fan, but also appreciated fine arts, music, and dancing.

He started coaching with the Jets in 1982, was manager of the Colonels in 1983, and the Expos in 1984. His nephew, recalled that Bob “often told me of his time in Little League and how much he enjoyed coaching the kids.”

One of the high points of his career was being on the coaching staff of the 2005 High Park team that represented Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He’s on the far left in this photo from this CBC story (it’s worth reading for more history on High Park), which recalls “the all-star team was put together by the Four Wise Old Men of High Park. The group included Dick Perry, who at the time was involved in High Park for 25 years, Dave Trimble, a 25-year veteran and Bill Barry, who was in his 23rd year and the newcomer Bob Bardyn … in his 16th season.”

His warmth, openness and wisdom will be missed by those whose lives he touched. A kind person who judged few and encouraged many. His obituary notes he is survived by his loving wife Iryna (Lesia) Mysko and brother Ihor. Bob will be sorely missed by his children Andrew, Joanna and Peter (Noreen).
