The 2025 season kicked off with chilly temperatures but ended up being a heartwarming day of amazing baseball. The Opening Ceremonies included the traditional bagpiper leading all 36 of our house league teams in a parade from Ken Sherbanowski Field t-ball diamond on to Ernie Keith Field. The first pitch was thrown out by High Park Little League alumni Liz Benn. She is the former director of MLB operations for the New York Mets, currently pitches in the NYC Metro Baseball League, and teaches philosophy at Lehman College. Canada’s national anthem was performed by Lego Money, the brother combo of Carmel and Zevon that play for the Jets-Red Sox franchise. And the season offically got under way with the traditional Opening Day first game, pitting the 2024 Majors champion Orioles against the finalist Athletics.
